Watching These Videos Makes New Adult Ed Practitioners More Knowledgeable

You are a new adult ed teacher and you want to develop your teaching skills.

Like most good adult ed teachers you want to do an excellent job. You want to connect better with your learners. You want to plan and teach meaningful lessons.

And yes, at some point, you also want to get good teaching positions. 

But here’s the thing … if you want to become a competent adult ed teacher, you need to know how adult students learn best.

So let me be clear: You don’t have to be an expert in adult learning theory. But knowing the basics will set you apart. Help you make better planning decisions. Make you a better learning facilitator.

Let’s be real. You don’t need to wait for anyone to teach you the basics. You can learn them on your own. Yes, you read that right.

Andragogy & Adult Learning Theory 

1- This 14 minute-video on Andragogy tells everything you need to know about adult learning. It covers the 6 adult learning principles, that can take your planning and teaching decisions to a new heights.

2- This 8 minute video reviews the 6 principles of adult learning and takes you deeper into the characteristics of adult Learners. Knowing this stuff will help you understand adult students better.

1- What is UDL anyway? This video provides a definition and some explanation. It presents the ABC of UDL in 5 minutes.  

2- This 5 minutes video describes the UDL Guidelines and how it should be implemented.

3- Do you want to foster students engagement in your classroom? This 16 minute- video is a must watch. It shows how UDL can help create an engaging classroom environment.  

4- Ok now let’s look at how you can make your content more accessible. Need a strategy? Check out this 4 minute UDL video. It details how to effectively introduce new materials.

5- What about assessing your learning? This next 5 minute-UDL video describes how to create opportunities for learners to articulate their understanding of the content covered in class.

6- Is your classroom culturally diverse? No problem. This last UDL video shares strategies on how to effectively work with culturally diverse learners. Guess what? It only lasts 5 minutes.
